Now, I'm sure you all are thinking...wait, this is a blog about Pauley Perrette? I thought I searched for www.MikeWeatherly.com. Well, you did, but our beautiful forensic scientist (and the woman behind her) is 1: A major part of the show that we all love, 2: a very good friend to Michael Weatherly, and 3: a rockin' trendsetter who stands up for her beliefs.
About a month ago, I was watching Access Hollywood, specifically to hear about the death of Bea Arthur (another thespian of whom I am a big fan). During that broadcast, I heard the news that Pauley Perrette had married her longtime boyfriend (follow the link below for their engagement story). I was very happy for the actress, despite my huge crush on the character! I wasn't paying much attention to the story, I'll admit, because I thought it was just going to be the same old celebrity nuptials report. To my surprise, however, Ms. Perrette revealed that one of the reasons she took so long in getting married was that she was taking a stance against Proposition 8 in California. She didn't think it was fair that many of her friends and peers couldn't have the same opportunity to marry who they love as she did.
I thought that was so amazing that she was willing to put off her own happiness to prove a point. I am a lesbian, and despite my personal feelings on marriage, I definitely agree with her stance on the issue. But, being that it affects the outcome of my life, I feel the frustration. For someone who can freely promote their relationship and have no one ridicule or denounce said relationship to stand up for people who don't have the same rights is awe-inspiring to me. Pauley, if you ever read this, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It means a lot to me that you are on my side, even though you don't know me.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to listen! Drop a line if you like, and check out the article!
