NCIS producer Shane Brennan promises some 'origin' episodes to come
It truly seems as if we're getting slight hints every other day around here about the upcoming eighth season of NCIS.
Not that I'm complaining of course.
Producer Shane Brennan had a bit more to say to Entertainment Weekly in regards to some of the characters that have been around the longest. While Brennan didn't exctly name names, we can kind of figure out who he is aiming at.
When the series started, Abby Sciuto and Anthony (Tony) DiNozzo were already part of the team of Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Ziva and McGee came along later on in the series so we know their backgrounds.
Now why have we never learned about Abby or Tony? My guess is that we're about to find out.
Brennan told EW that he is promising one to two "origin episodes" this season. Sounds kind of cool.
When asked to elaborate a bit more on what exactly he means by "origin episodes," the executive producer continued.
"You’ll find out how certain members of the team first came to NCIS. It’ll be hard to do them without flashbacks."
Tony has had his share in the light before with the undercover gig a few seasons ago and all that, but Abby isn't always featured so prominently. Sure she has had the stalker episode among others, but most of the time she is just down in her lab and we know she's kind of crazy.
Who knows what secrets may pop up now that we'll be dwelling into their pasts? Or maybe it might not be either of them and be someone else entirely? Who knows?
BuddyTV had a whole bunch of great tidbits to get fans of the #1 show on television all riled up and raring for the new season. First of all, we already know that the entire team is back for the eighth season so there is not going to be any need to get used to replacements.
Star Rocky Carroll (Director Leon Vance) spoke with Fancast and gave a little amount of information to get us prepared.
Here are some other highlights you may or may not be happy about:
~ Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) will have another visit from his father that is sure to wreak havoc once again.
"We're also going to have a visit from Mr. Robert Wagner, who plays DiNozzo's father. So look forward to that," Carroll said.
~ Carrol also went on to say, "We've got a few old scores to settle - primarily with Ziva's dad, Eli David, played by the brilliant Michael Nouri."
Appears to me as if there is going to be a lot more in that storyline with most of it probably coming as a complete shock to us all. But really, should we be surprised at all anymore where it concerns Ziva (Cote de Pablo)?
~ At the end of last season, things were left with a total cliffhanger. The father of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) was preparing for a visit from someone that wasn't the most ideal person for companionship. Things looked rather dark for Gibbs' father as the Reynosas had reached out to him.
Executive producer Shane Brennan didn't have much to say, but he did speak a little on it. Well, enough to make us rack our brains even more. "Gibbs is his father's son," said Brennan.
Jeez, could you tease us any more?
Brennan did hint though that there could be flashbacks in the upcoming season as to just how certain members of the NCIS team made it to where they are. We've seen the additions of Ziva and McGee (Sean Murray) so that is not anything new. But DiNozzo and Abby (Pauley Perrette) were already with Gibbs when the series started. Might it be time to finally learn where they came from?
There really isn't anyone else to learn about so that would be my best guess at least.
We'll have to wait only a little over a month and a half now to find out if all this comes true and anything else we want to know. Season eight of NCIS begins on September 21 and the head-slaps can't come fast enough. Source: Examiner.com
