NCIS 'Baltimore' Spoilers: DiNozzo, Meet Your New Boss

In next week's episode of NCIS, 'Baltimore,' season 8 episode 22, fans will finally be getting a chance to see how Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) met Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and left behind the Baltimore police department for the federal agency.

How Tony & Gibbs met In one of the 'Baltimore' flashbacks, Gibbs and Tony will be in an interrogation - but they'll be the only ones in that scene. That's right, Tony will be the one interrogating Gibbs because his future boss is working undercover. Once he learns who Gibbs is, DiNozzo gives a nod back to the first season of the show: "Well, it's official. He's a cop - a Navy cop. Navy NCIS." (In the first season, that was the show's redundant title.)

Gibbs and Tony have been part of the team since the beginning of the show, and their relationship is certainly one that is interesting for a few reasons (and wouldn't it be a psychology student's dream to analyze each one?). As Gary Glasberg puts it, "in addition to the student/mentor relationship that exists, there's a father/son aspect to it, a big brother aspect to it and a straight man/comedian aspect to it." Those famous head slaps are part of that relationship (though they're not in the show as much as they used to), and 'Baltimore' will be showing fans that first Gibbs-DiNozzo head slap.

Also reappearing in this episode is Tony's season 1 hair. He will also be dressed more casually than he has in 40 episodes. This is definitely going to be a highlight episode for fans, both old and new, of the show. It's giving those who have stuck around for years waiting to see just how Tony did join NCIS their answers. However, if you're a new fan (or perhaps have even just been tuning in for the big serial killer arc), this episode is one for you too. While they'll be showing how Tony joined Gibbs' team in the past, in the present, they'll be dealing with another victim of P2P - Tony's former partner, Danny Price (Scott Grimes).
