NCIS Season 8 Spoilers:
Blasts From the Past
Source: TV Fanatic
The eighth season of NCIS is approaching and with the entire cast re-signed this offseason, attention has turned to what we can expect from TV's top drama come fall.
First up, expect an old score to be settled.
“We’ve got a few old scores to settle – primarily with Ziva’s dad, Eli David, played by the brilliant Michael Nouri,” Rocky Carroll (Director Vance) told Fancast recently. Continued below...
Another familiar face from Season 7 will be back as well. “We’re also going to have a visit from Mr. Robert Wagner, who plays DiNozzo’s father, so look forward to that.”
Speaking of fathers, the fate of Gibbs' old man is in jeopardy after the events of May's season ending "Rule Fifty-One." Will the elder Gibbs escape Reynosa's grasp?
Asked that question, executive producer Shane Brennan thought for a long moment about Ralph Waite’s character, but ultimately offered this: “Gibbs is his father’s son.”
Thoughts and theories on what that means are welcomed below.
Brennan also says the new season will include a look back at how some of the characters - possibly longtime NCIS veterans Tony and Abby - came to join the team.

Question: Do you know if NCIS will deal more with what happened to Ziva in Somalia? —Carlee
Ausiello: Funny you should ask. Exec producer Shane Brennan just told me the following: “In November sweeps,we dip again into a story that perhaps everyone thought was played out. It involves Ziva.” Source
Question: I am dying for some NCIS scoop. Any news on the season premiere? —Lyss
Ausiello: Brennan says the resolution of last season’s cliff-hanger will “speak volumes about what sort of dad Gibbs Sr. was to his son. And you see why Gibbs is very much cut from the same cloth. He may be old, but he’s feisty.” Source
Question: Is Rena Sofer returning to NCIS? —Brenda
Ausiello: “She’s not in the premiere,” says Brennan. “But she didn’t die. And unless they carry you out feet first, never say never.” Source
Given the events of the finale, is Gibbs' job in danger on NCIS? — Jonathan
ADAM: The murder of Pedro Hernandez will add a new layer to the already contentious relationship between Gibbs and Director Vance. You'll see Vance's somewhat shocking reaction in the premiere, but executive producer Shane Brennan coyly tells us that it may also give hints to Vance's own mysterious past. "Sometimes when you think something's done, things pop up years later," Brennan says. "You've got that famous moment where the new director moves into his office for the first time and shreds a piece of paper. That's one of those moments." Source
I’m craving info about ‘NCIS‘! – Alice
Expect two blasts from the past after the new season gets underway on September 21. “We’ve got a few old scores to settle – primarily with Ziva’s dad, Eli David, played by the brilliant Michael Nouri,” Rocky Carroll (aka Vance) tells me. “And we’re also going to have a visit from Mr. Robert Wagner, who plays DiNozzo’s father. So look forward to that.” Source
How did Shane Brennan react to you telling him that you hope “Pa Walton” isn’t dead? – JetGibbs via Twitter
The ‘NCIS’ boss thought for a long moment about my concern for Ralph Waite’s character, who was placed in jeopardy in the season finale. Ultimately, he offered this and only this: “Gibbs is his father’s son.” Thoughts? Source
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. --"NCIS" executive producer Shane Brennan said the new season of the show will include a look back at how some of the characters -- possibly DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Abby (Pauley Perrette) -- came to join the team. Source
Any hints as to what Michael Weatherly said about ‘NCIS‘ at the TCA party? – Annsan50 via Twitter
No mere hints, but full quotes. Season 8 opens with “a huge bang,” Michael told me. “Right off the bat we deal with every aspect of the season finale head-on [so] that no one will be on the edge of their seat wondering, ‘Is somebody alive? Is somebody dead?’ The producers and writers felt it was essential to be super clear that things were being dealt with.” Sounds more and more like Pa did have an M16 under the counter! Source
Will Michael Weatherly’s song ‘Bitter & Blue’ be used in Season 8 of ‘NCIS’? It’d be nice to actually have Michael singing with the guitar. – Kylie
“I can’t say if it will ever happen or never happen, but I’m not against it, in the right scenario,” Weatherly says in response to your Q. His proposed set-up: "À la ‘The Fabulous Baker Boys,’ Ziva follows Tony to some “smoky little jazz club and he’s playing this heartfelt music, expressing himself.” Source
Question: Last week’s NCIS scoop was kinda lame. My socks weren’t knocked off—maybe pulled halfway down, but not knocked off. Got anything else this week? —Chelsea
Ausiello: This should do the trick: The hit procedural will air an origin episode or two this season, according to exec producer Shane Brennan. “You’ll find out how certain members of the team first came to NCIS,” reveals the big boss, who all but confirms that said episodes will feature flashbacks. “It’ll be hard to do them without flashbacks.” Where are your socks now, Chelsea?! When NCIS returns this fall, viewers won't have to wait long at all to see exactly what happens to Papa Gibbs. — "We pick up the show right where we left off, and I advise every fan of the show to sit down and watch that first minute. It's explosive," executive producer Shane Brennan tells TVGuide.com. "Ralph Waite is front and center all the way throughout the episode." — But as you can see in this exclusive first image from Season 8, Gibbs Sr. isn't the only target on the Reynosa Cartel's hit list. — In fact, the premiere — titled "Spider and the Fly" — finds all of Gibbs' team members as potential targets when their investigation of the murder of a helicopter pilot leads Gibbs (Mark Harmon) back to the vengeful Paloma Reynosa (Jacqueline Obradors), whose father Gibbs murdered. — Fortunately, it sounds like the team members are looking out for each other. "We'll get back into showing NCIS as the team that it's always been," Brennan says. Source
From Matt Webb Mitovich: When CBS’ top-rated ‘NCIS‘ kicks off its eighth season on Tuesday, September 21, tensions will remain high as the closing moments of the May finale play out.
The good news, Rocky Carroll (who plays Director Vance) tells Fancast, is that unlike in some memorable past season openers, everyone on the team “is still alive and well.” That said, he teases, “We’ve got a few old scores to settle.”
Among those stubborn foes is the Reynosa cartel, which still looms as a significant threat to Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team. When last we tuned in, cartel kingpin (queenpin?) Paloma had just entered the store where Jackson Gibbs (Ralph Waite), Jethro’s pop, works.
In the aftermath of that showdown – and as seen in this Fancast first look photo from the Season 8 premiere – Gibbs gets a visit from his mentor, Mike Franks (played by returning guest star/’Prison Break’ alum Muse Watson).
The reason for Franks’ arrival on the scene? To offer Gibbs a much-needed assist in his campaign to neutralize the Reynosa threat once and for all.
Watson/Mike Franks isn’t the only encore to watch for this season. As previously reported by Fancast, both Robert Wagner (as DiNozzo’s dad) and Michael Nouri (as Eli David) are also due to return. Source
Sam Anderson best known for his role on Lost will guest star on the second episode of NCIS' new season. Anderson will play Walter, a middle school teacher whose class room becomes a crime scene. Are you excited for Sam's appearance on NCISand for the premire of NCIS on Tuesday, September 21st. Source
William Devane will also be featured on this episode as the grandfather of the missing girl.
On this same installment, Zack Lively, David Magidoff and Elizabeth Wright Shapiro will take on the roles of interns who Gibbs allows to follow him and his team around. Source

NCIS: Los Angeles Spoilers...
Ausiello: It’ll be the “Kensi and Marty Deeks show,” reveals exec producer Shane Brennan, referring to the spin-off’s nascent crime-solving duo played by Daniela Ruah and newly minted series regular Eric Christian Olsen. “The banter they are writing for us is hilarious,” adds Ruah. “I burst out laughing during table reads. I think our viewers are going to really appreciate the addition [of Eric].” Source
Sources confirm to me (Michael Ausiello) exclusively that newcomer Renée Felice Smith is joining the procedural in the recurring role of Nell, an incredibly bright, somewhat quirky, and extremely chatty intelligence analyst who’ll be assisting Eric (Barrett Foa) in the OPS center.
Smith’s biggest role to date was in a project nobody—save for a bunch of agents and a dozen or so network suits—ever saw: Amy Sherman-Palladino’s ill-fated CW pilot The Wyoming Project. Source
From Adam Bryant, TV Guide: Alicia Coppola has signed on to guest-star on a Season 2 episode ofNCIS: Los Angeles, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

Besides her role as IRS agent Mimi Clark on Jericho, Coppola, 42, starred on the NBC soap opera Another World for three years in the early '90s.
